THE ROLE

The Specialist Support & Programs Officer is a new and evolving versatile and multiskilled role combining direct client support and care, with administrative program & project support within the National Melanoma Specialist Support Service.

This role delivers empathetic and supportive front-line care, information, and referral of inbound requests to the National Melanoma Specialist Support Service, and may be contacted via telephone, email, or online referral systems. Using a triage model, clients affected by melanoma will be connected to both internal and external supportive care options based on their needs. The Specialist Support and Programs Officer also plays an integral program and volunteer support role within the National Melanoma Specialist Support Service.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Term: Full Time – Fix term until 30 June 2027
  • Hours Per Week: 38 hours week
  • Hourly Rate / Salary: Health Professional & Support Service Award
  • This is a fully remote work from home role. You can be located anywhere in Australia.
  • Applicants must have facilities to enable working from home.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate / background in health-related field (desirable)
  • Understanding in relation to the impacts of a life-threatening illness for people with a diagnosis of cancer, including impact on family and friends (desirable)
  • Experience in a similar role (highly desirable)
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to communicate empathetically and effectively
  • Experience working on-line / video and telephone (desirable)
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector (desirable)
  • Demonstrated administrative skills with proficiency in IT systems including Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems (essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working autonomously, without direct supervision, whilst understanding scope and escalation logic
  • Experience with organising multiple tasks, ability to remain methodical and systematic
  • Synergy with Melanoma Patients Australia’s vision and values
