About the role

Reporting to the Community Services Manager. This position will:

  • Team Leadership – Effectively lead the day to day functioning of the McAuley Care (including delivery of funding targets and reporting requirements), supporting contemporary and best practice in line with current policy.
  • Strategic Service Planning and Development – Contribute to strategic planning and development, and lead the McAuley Care team and relevant stakeholders in the implementation of current policy, continuous improvement, evaluation and advocacy.
  • Specialist Liaison and Advocacy – Provide guidance and specialist advice on families and children and ensure best practice in Family Violence support provision to multiple stakeholders, internal and external.

About You

You will have:

Essential Requirements

  • A tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or related discipline
  • Understanding of Women's Centred Practice
  • Demonstrated background or training in working with clients with complex needs, including family Violence, homelessness, alcohol, drugs, and / or mental illness
  • A well-developed understanding of family dynamics, early intervention and prevention, cumulative harm and the impacts of family violence on children
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in risk management including client and staff safety, confidentiality and duty of care
  • A capacity and ability to demonstrate McAuley Community Services for Women’s Direct Practice Competencies with relevant evidence/examples. (A copy of our Competencies and standards will be provided upon application).
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the operations of the McAuley Community Services for Women and the organisation’s Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and maintaining program data on a relevant computer based program or database.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in team leadership and program development, particularly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, the Child Protection protocols and Child Safe Standards (2016 Victoria)
  • Experience and knowledge of working with and mentoring volunteers.
