Your Opportunity:

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Research Officer to join a well-resourced, multidisciplinary research group working on modelling inherited kidney disease in children. The applicant will work with and optimise protocols for the in vitro differentiation of ureteric epithelium from induced pluripotent stem cells. Specific projects will be developed for the application of these protocols to model diseases of the renal tubule. The application will be expected to design, conduct and supervise research experiments within these projects, developing independent lines of inquiry. The application may also be involved in project modelling inherited glomerular diseases.

The applicant will report to Prof Melissa Little, but work will also be under the supervision of Dr Sara Howden and Dr Tom Forbes.

To be successful for this role:

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant PhD/Doctoral qualification and have experience in stem cell/tissue culture, molecular biology skills (PCR, qPCR, plasmid generation/preparation, DNA electrophoresis, Western blot).
