At MCRI we share a powerful vision; to re-imagine the future of child health. We are the home to many life-changing scientific discoveries. We believe that no question is too impossible to try and answer. We are renowned for our cutting edge focus on early interventions, improved diagnosis, prevention and development of potential cures. Our success is founded on a philosophy of collaboration through a multi-disciplinary approach to solving the toughest questions in child health.
MCRI is a proud member of the Australian Network on Disability. We are committed to creating a positive working environment which values all backgrounds and experiences. We strive to foster an inclusive culture that is underpinned by equal opportunity for all and a culture based on respect, consideration and dignity.
We are looking for a project assistant to join the Brain and Mind group in our Clinical Sciences theme.
Specifically, we are seeking a Project Assistant to join the dynamic Gender Research team at the Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service (RCHGS) (https://www.mcri.edu.au/research/projects/gender-research). The RCHGS provides care to trans and gender diverse youth – including psychological and hormonal treatments - and is one of the largest multidisciplinary clinics of its kind in the world. However, there is currently a lack of research data to inform clinical practice in this emerging field.
As our project assistant you will be working on the Trans20 longitudinal cohort study. This study is designed to describe the biopsychosocial outcomes for young transgender individuals receiving psychosocial support and hormonal interventions. Data collection for Trans20 commenced in 2017 and we anticipate having enrolled around 600 patients by early 2020.
As our part-time Project Assistant you will be required to undertake data collection, collation, recording and management.
The role requires a team member who is focused and has great attention to detail. This role will see you work on a variety of tasks with different sources, as data collection is collated from both web-based and paper-based surveys.
You must have outstanding communication skills and a proven ability to build positive relationships as you will be required to liaise with clinical staff, participants and a variety of stakeholders.
Your coordination, support and service excellence will ensure the project team can deliver on project priorities and can continue their work in the Trans20 longitudinal cohort study.
