About the program: Generation Victoria (GenV)

GenV is a world-first initiative that transforms the whole of the State of Victoria into a single dynamic health and wellbeing solutions platform, breaking down barriers in research to solve pressing questions, and translating that into tangible actions that can improve children’s health, development and well-being. One of the world’s largest birth cohorts, GenV will be open to all 160,000 babies born in Victoria over two full years. At its foundation are consent; use of existing data and biosamples; augmented with GenV-specific measurement; and careful consideration of design to maximise its multiple-use potential. The Opportunity at MCRI:

GenV is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Technical & Engineering Lead to join the team! This role will lead the team of engineers, MCRI employees, contractors, vendors responsible for the coding & configuration across various IT systems deployed on-premises and within the cloud. You will be responsible for establishing, refining and promoting within the team proven practices to ensure coding quality, application of proven software design principles, and implementation agreed architectures.

This role will be a critical part of the technology delivery management team for GenV and accountable for the successful outcome of implementing the target technical capabilities on GenV Platform. While the focus of this role is on leadership, it will remain hands to champion our technical practices and to work with engineers on the team to develop software solutions using agile software development practices.

To be successful in this role you will possess extensive technical experience with a solid understanding of business goals to guide teams through all aspects of software delivery. You will ​promote a learning and growth mindset and coach the team members on technical best practice and how to be an effective member of an exciting cross-functional team consisting of other members across the enterprise.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading delivery of the design develop, deploy, run of a high quality, scalable and performant solutions.
  • Understands the business vision and target operating model
  • Align engineering capacity and skillset within the technical team to business priority and needs
  • Continues to develop, maintain, and improve technology enablement processes and practices, technical delivery, and ensure teams are aligned

About You:

  • Bachelor/Masters qualification in relevant field and/or appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.
  • Well-developed technical leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in modern engineering practices and disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of the Configuration Management, Environment Management, Release Management processes
