Victorian Clinical Genetic Services (VCGS) is a not-for-profit subsidiary of MCRI and provides a wholly integrated genetic testing, diagnostic and counselling service for health professionals, patients and their families across Victoria, Australia and globally. Our clinical geneticists and genetic counsellors work in close consultation with our medical scientists to provide the most accurate interpretation for complex genetic tests. VCGS also plays a pivotal role in research and development, driving translational research and policy development in the field of genetics.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a commercial minded, values driven General Manager of Finance for VCGS to join the team. As the General Manager of Finance, you will take on a strategic leadership role that supports the VCGS Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Head of Finance (MCRI) you will work with both a strategic and an operational focus, contributing to, and working within, the strategic purposes and plans of VCGS, and bringing careful attention to the detail of operational implementation.

Importantly, your growth mindset, performance orientation and exceptional collaborative skills will ensure your success at MCRI/VCGS.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the VCGS CEO and MCRI Head of Finance to support development of the organisation through the lens of financial and operational strategy, via metrics tied to that to strategy and its implementation.
  • Establishing and managing financial modelling and scenario planning assessments to inform strategic decisions.
  • Implementing operational best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Overseeing the issuance of financial information.

About You:

  • CPA or CA qualified.
  • Substantial depth and range of financial management experience at a senior management level.
  • Strong skills and expertise in corporate financial management and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant Federal, State and Local legislation particularly in the areas of financial and risk management, corporate planning and organisational reporting
