At MCRI we share a powerful vision; to re-imagine the future of child health. We are the home to many life-changing scientific discoveries. We believe that no question is too impossible to try and answer. We are renowned for our cutting edge focus on early interventions, improved diagnosis, prevention and development of potential cures. Our success is founded on a philosophy of collaboration through a multi-disciplinary approach to solving the toughest questions in child health.
MCRI is a proud member of the Australian Network on Disability. We are committed to creating a positive working environment which values all backgrounds and experiences. We strive to foster an inclusive culture that is underpinned by equal opportunity for all and a culture based on respect, consideration and dignity.
We are looking for a passionate coordinator to join the Genetic Health (BLC) and Melbourne Children’s Trial Centre teams.
The Genetics Theme is dedicated to investigating disease mechanisms and clinical conditions that are primarily caused by pathological alterations in genes and chromosomes, with emphasis on rare genetic diseases. There are more than 5,000 rare conditions, collectively accounting for a high proportion of hospital admissions, chronic diseases and deaths in infancy and childhood. New genomic technologies provide the potential to avoid the often long and difficult diagnosis journey that families face, improve early intervention and reduce the associated health care burden on families and the community.
Your established analytical and evaluation skills will see you identifying what is required to make the Children’s Campus ready for gene therapy trials. You are efficient and adaptable seeing you work with relevant departments to put infrastructure in place to enable the Campus to rapidly take on trials.
You will have a natural ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders as the role will see you working with MCTC (Melbourne Children’s Trials Centre), Pharmacy, Human Research Ethics Committee, Biosafety Committee and other relevant departments.
You will also be working with similar initiatives at a state, national and international level so it is important you can engage stakeholders at any level.
You have previously worked in a role in the trials, gene therapy and/or laboratory space.
You are a team player and not only understand the value you bring to your work but also the wider community.
