The Opportunity

We are committed to the linking and analysis of large datasets to accelerate research outputs and provide the evidence base to improve clinical care. Our research is increasingly data-rich, with the volume, variety and velocity of data being generated requiring structured data governance and sophisticated analytics to ensure maximise translational impact and data sharing.

With guidance from the Research Data Manager you will lead the development and implementation of data governance policies, standards and related processes, including issues related to data sharing, data security and ethics, with an aim to develop cross discipline and institute wide systems to maximise the impact of the data collected and generated.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop data governance policies and standards to maximise the impact of research data
  • Be involved in the management of risk, compliance and quality assurance with respect to data management in the institute.
  • Contribute to research data security, integrity and establish data sharing practices
  • Drive SOPs for data acquisition, storage and analysis, and streamlining of ethics
  • Educate institute on research data governance (including on-boarding)
  • Collaborate in the development of institutional systems for the standardisation and harmonisation of data
  • Deliver training to research staff on aspects of data governance

You Demonstrate:

  • Degree qualified in relevant field or equivalent experience plus professional qualifications
  • Proven experience in establishing and operationalising governance functions in large organisations
  • Professional and tactful relationship builder with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Aptitude for communicating effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to effectively influence with all levels of management and project stakeholders
  • Proven experience in the development of data governance policies using industry recognised standards within the healthcare or research sector
  • Sound understanding and experience in implementing policies to support Data Security would be highly regarded
  • Experience applying best practice project management methodologies, of large and complex ICT projects in the health sector would be highly regarded
  • Prince2 or PMP certification would be highly regarded

  • Part time (19 hrs per week)
  • Salary $100,000 - $115,000 PA (pro rata) + super + MAXXIA salary packaging
