The Safeguarding Consultant is responsible for working to and developing the Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable People Framework across Victoria. This will include training, advice, monitoring safeguards and compliance. The Safeguarding Consultant will manage and review all safe guarded cases where necessary, provide advise and coaching regarding new and ongoing allegations to ensure that the organisations meets its legislative compliance requirements regarding children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Case management (ensuring case management notes and records of communication are managed accurately)
  • Training (train officers, employees and volunteers and coordinate in Safeguarding training across the state)
  • Investigations - manage the investigations process as required
  • Compliance - ensure all officers, employees and volunteers have the appropriate integrity checks across the division
  • Advisory - provide advise to divisional leaders, officers and managers on the management of Sex Offenders
  • Team support - participate in team activities, attend meetings, and demonstrate a supportive approach to staff members

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate leading change related to safeguarding children and vulnerable people. You will understand the research and recommendations of the Royal Commission into child sexual abuse.

Qualifications and mandatory requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualification relevant to Social Work, Psychology (Provisional Registration), Mental Health. Or other related allied health or social/behavioural sciences disciplines that meet the professional requirements of the service as agreed by the Agency
  • Current National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check (Employment)
