Event Manager - Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation - Indigenous Arts

Matrix On Board

We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants to apply.

We will be advertising other positions soon, so keep an eye out!

About the Role

Our Event Manager is a key member of our team, planning, building and delivering all events in the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation’s (DAAF Foundation) calendar!

These events focus on six days in August – when Darwin comes alive with the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, the National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA) and Country to Couture Runway, plus a whole range of associated events and activities. Throughout the year, there’s many other smaller events, including interstate and sometimes overseas.

This role is the activator that makes them all happen! You’ll work closely with the Director of Events and Operations and leaders of each key area to contribute to the planning and lead up; and then to manage all aspects of the build and delivery of each event.

You’ll have an opportunity to get a grip on the role in 2025, then be a significant contributor to planning and delivery of 2026 events, when DAAF Foundation will celebrate 20 years of supporting Indigenous art and culture!

About You

This is an exciting, challenging role requiring a seasoned events leader with the capacity and experience to manage multiple large-scale projects.

With great project management skills and attention to detail, you’ll be unflappable, with the capacity to coordinate many things simultaneously, and make sound judgements and decisions on-the-fly in highly stressful, time sensitive situations.

You’ll have the drive and autonomy to deliver outcomes independently, while also being a great supportive team member, working with colleagues distributed across Australia, Indigenous artists and communities, national and local suppliers and industry specialists.

We expect you will have a related tertiary-level qualification, and ideally, events experience in the arts, culture or fashion contexts. You might have held roles in sectors such as festival direction or programming, hospitality or styling; and have used software such as Propared, Vivien or Ungerboark (Momentus)

About the Benefits

You’ll be joining a sector-leading, high profile Indigenous cultural organisation with a warm, talented and supportive team and a respectful and inclusive workplace culture. It’s exciting, challenging and rewarding!

This permanent, full-time role comes with a package that includes a salary $80,000-$90,000 (depending on experience), 6 weeks annual leave (with 17.5% leave loading), time off in lieu and travel opportunities.
