Marymead CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn

About Marymead

Marymead is a well-respected, community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people, and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya, and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill the position of Therapeutic Outreach Worker within our Permanency Program (OOHC).

About the Therapeutic Outreach Worker position

We are now searching for a permanent full time highly motivated and qualified Therapeutic Outreach Worker to join our team in our Wagga Wagga office.

Therapeutic Outreach Workers, in conjunction with Permanency Case Managers, Clinical staff, and Team Leaders work with children, young people, siblings, foster carers, birth families, and significant others to support stable, positive and sustainable permanent placement options. Where possible, permanency goals are focused towards family preservation and/or restoration, making the therapeutic interventions vital in supporting placement stability.

This position involves working as part of a team and direct contact with families, carers and children. Through therapeutic modelling of relational and behavioural strategies, incorporating trauma-informed and attachment informed frameworks such as Circle of Security - caregivers and children/young people and birth families are supported to improve their relationship skills and enhance their connection. Positive Behaviour Support plans are developed by the team and implemented and monitored by the therapeutic outreach worker. This is complex work, requiring a thoughtful and considered approach that is child-focused. Support is provided to families both within the home and also in community based settings. It is likely that at times this support will occur outside of core business hours. As a NSW-based service, therapeutic outreach workers will need to travel to regional areas by company car.
