About Marymead

Marymead is a well-respected, community based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra.

Marymead is seeking to fill 2x full-time position(s) outlined below to work with the Carer Development team in our Permanency Program, based in our Canberra or Goulburn branch.

About the position

As the Foster Carer Assessor and Trainer you will be responsible for delivering high-quality carer support to new and existing foster carers. You will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Conducting carer reviews and assessments using Step By Step processes
• Understanding, responding, and resolving enquiries;
• Participate in carer recruitment processes as required;
• Support new carers through delivering carer inductions;
• Ensure carer packs are prepared for each carer household to be provided to children and young people prior to entry into a carer’s household;
• Deliver Shared Lives; pre and post authorisation training; regular carer training opportunities including online, external and internal training;
• Provide support to the Case Management and Carer Development teams to facilitate transitions to placements;
• Provide additional support to carers during times of personal crisis;
• Support carers throughout the reportable conduct process as directed by the Team Leader;
• Provide authorised carers with ongoing support, practical advice, education and information

Qualifications, skills & experience

• Diploma of Community Services (minimum qualifications)
• Step by Step registration (or willingness and ability to obtain registration)
• Shared Lives Trainer (or willingness and ability to obtain registration)
• Working With Vulnerable People/ Working with Children Clearance (ACT/NSW as required)
