Marymead is a well-respected, community based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided a range of support services to children, young people and their families since 1967. Marymead now operates throughout the southern and western regional areas of NSW as well as the ACT with offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Young, Moruya and Canberra. Marymead is seeking to fill the position outlined below.

About the position

The Family Preservation Therapeutic Case Manager role is a full-time position based in the rural town of Young, NSW servicing families in the local area. Family Preservation Case Managers work with children, young people, parents and extended families to enhance natural supports, build parenting capacity for primary caregivers and work with families to ensure their homes remain safe, supportive and nurturing. Family Preservation Case Managers may also be required to manage up to two permanency cases (OoHC) located in the nearby area.

Family Preservation Case Managers are responsible for delivering therapeutic case management, underpinned by Circle of Security, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) & elements of Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT). Family Action Plans’ goals are focused on the preservation of the family unit and prevention of children entering the NSW OOHC system. To achieve this the enhancement of primary care givers’ skills and ability to meet their child’s social, emotional, physical and psychological needs will be the primary therapeutic target.

Qualification, certifications and/or security clearance

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or related field.
• NSW Working with Children Clearance
• Unrestricted Driver's Licence
• Willingness to undertake and apply preservation training

Desirable

• Diploma of Community Services
• Experience in family preservation
• Knowledge of Social Service agencies in rural community.
• Experience in delivering Functional Family Therapy.
