Marninwartikura Women’s Resource Centre is growing, we are seeking two Social Workers for our Strengthening Families team.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced social workers who are interested in joining the Family Support Legal Unit team. This multidisciplinary group works together to provide wrap-around support for families experiencing family and domestic violence.

You will work flexibly and collaboratively alongside a small legal team, counsellor/art therapist, family support worker’s and the women's shelter staff to increase women’s safety, making up the Strengthening Families team.

MWRC is a healing informed and trauma aware community organisation that provides a range of services to women, children and their families, that positively contribute to the reduction of harm across the Fitzroy Valley.

About the Position

You will be responsible for providing therapeutic case management and family support services within the Family Support Legal Unit. Ideally you will have experience in working alongside Aboriginal people in trauma-informed, strengths-based ways.

Key requirements of the position are:

• BA in Social Work
• Minimum 3-5 years post qualification experience preferred
• Experience working with families impacted by family and domestic violence
• Understanding the key challenges affecting remote Aboriginal communities
• Experience of working within a trauma aware and healing informed practice
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
• Ability to work flexibly and autonomously within a small team whilst being a team player
• Strong self-care strategies in place to support resilience
• Understanding of risk assessment and safety planning
• Experience in working with First Nations people
• Current Police clearance check
• Western Australia working with children clearance or ability to obtain
• Vaccination documentation
• Drivers licence (and ability to drive to remote communities/pick up clients etc.)

Someone who is currently studying but has exceptional experience in this area will also be considered.

Competitive salary packaging with additional remote living allowance as well as housing allowances are provided (fully furnished shared accommodation provided).
