ABOUT MARKET FORCES

Since 2013, Market Forces has been working to redirect finance away from activities that harm the environment and into those that protect and enhance it. We focus on the role that banks, superannuation funds and other investors, insurance companies and governments play in financing environmentally risky and damaging activities. We strongly focus on climate change and the essential energy revolution the world needs to undertake if we are to secure a stable long-term climate. Our team delivers and supports campaigns on the most egregious examples of fossil fuel polluters, extending that support to partners in Asia and beyond, wherever we can make the best interventions to shift finance away from dirty fossil fuels.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Research Analyst will be part of a team of four or five researchers who collectively provide the information and intellectual material that underpins the campaigns of Market Forces and those of our movement partners. Your work will also help inform the wider community about how financial institutions enable environmentally damaging activities and how they can become powerful agents of change to shift the policies and practices of these same institutions.

You'll be collaborating internally with campaigners and communications specialists covering energy finance in Australia and Asia, and assisting other organisations with research and advice that supports the wider climate and environmental movement achieve its aims.

ABOUT YOU

You love, and have a track record of, taking rich, detailed and complex information and turning it into clear, well-communicated, engaging research. You'll pride yourself on the accuracy and integrity of your work, and have a great eye for detail. You'll be a great teammate, supporting your colleagues to get the research done that the whole team needs, and can scrutinise your colleagues' work, leading to constructive feedback and a constant process of learning and improvement.

Above all else, you'll want to take powerful, long-lasting action to combat climate change and keep this planet habitable for humanity.
