ABOUT MARKET FORCES

Since 2013, Market Forces has been working to redirect finance away from activities that harm the environment and into those that protect and enhance it. We focus on the role that banks, superannuation funds and other investors, insurance companies and governments play in financing environmentally risky and damaging activities. We strongly focus on climate change and the essential energy revolution the world needs to undertake if we are to secure a stable long-term climate. Our team delivers and supports campaigns on the most egregious examples of fossil fuel polluters, extending that support to partners in Asia and beyond, wherever we can make the best interventions to shift finance away from dirty fossil fuels.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In addition to direct campaigning, this role provides the strategic direction and day-to-day operational guidance needed to ensure our Australia-focused campaign teams continue working in a collaborative and coordinated manner towards our campaign driving finance and investment away from environmentally damaging activities. As a coordinator, you’ll need to be an effective communicator, project manager and team leader, while as a campaigner, you’ll need to be a researcher, strategist, community organiser, spokesperson, diplomat, prosecutor, logistician and marketer all in one.

A campaign coordinator is someone who facilitates and does what is needed to deliver real, measurable change in the world and if that sounds like you, keep reading.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced, focused campaigner, coordinator and leader who wants nothing more than to protect our climate by preventing finance for dirty fossil fuels. You’re a creative and deep thinker adept at understanding complex economic and political systems, and identifying strategies and points of intervention that can lead to meaningful, lasting change. Most of all, you love sharing these insights with those around you.

You thrive when working with others and relish the opportunity to work across multiple teams. You’re always looking for opportunities to bring teams together in service of common goals, and to build a greater sense of collaboration within the organisation. You are a great person to be around, whether it’s as a direct colleague, leader of a movement, or partner in a coalition. You’re able to balance a deep determination for getting results with a calmness resilient to rapidly changing circumstances, pressure and at times uncertainty.
