Marist180 (www.marist180.org.au) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating positive change for vulnerable young people and their families. Marist180 is now seeking applications from experienced and passionate Youth Workers.

The position

The Youth Worker is a member of a broader therapeutic team that work together to support each young person living in accommodation with their day to day activities, and achieve their individual personal, living and social skills, while acting as a mentor who engages positive change and discourages anti-social behaviours.

We are seeking numerous experienced Casual Youth Workers for multiple vacancies across the Nowra region. Working across multiple residential houses, you must be available for shift work which includes morning, afternoon, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Completed Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or similar.
  • Experience working within a residential setting and working with linguistically and culturally diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of child protection and social services practices or policies.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people who have experienced complex trauma.
  • Effective negotiation skills, active listening skills and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously (under general supervision only) and contribute to an effective team environment.
  • Sound computer, literacy & numeracy skills and a high standard of professional ethical behaviour and sound understanding of boundary issues.

Work Requirement:

  • Current and valid First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Clear National Criminal History Check.
  • Unrestricted NSW driver’s licence (minimum Provisional 2 licence).
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
