Marist180 is now looking for a Psychologist or Social Worker to join our team who has a depth of experience in working with clients who have experience complex trauma and working with clients within the child protection system.

The position

This a vital position within the organisation tasked to enhance the dignity, confidence, well-being and quality of life of the young people in our care. This position leads a team of therapeutic specialist and provides coordination in the development and delivery of a range of planned assessments, treatments and intervention services to Marist180 clients. This role will require you to:

  • Provide therapeutic trauma informed Reflective Practice and supervision, training, support and consultation to staff you directly supervise
  • Work closely with both internal and external agencies to educate, support and lead the delivery of appropriate therapeutic interventions for children and young people who have experienced significant trauma
  • Lead and coordinate the collection of data and reporting as required by Department of Community & Justice (DCJ)
  • Work closely with the DCJ, Central Access Unit (CAU) and Child and Family District Units (CFDU) in taking new referrals and identifying referral pathways for young people leaving the service
  • Contribute to the Strategic and Operational Planning of the organisation; and
  • Collaborate with Area Manager and Snr Caseworker to establish a safe and therapeutic Milieu for all young people.

Essential Criteria:

  • Psychologist registration by AHPRA or Social Worker registration by AASW
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with children and young people
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with the issues faced by children and young people who have a complex trauma background, and a demonstrated capacity to assist staff to provide treatment to young people
  • Board approved supervisor or is eligible to be one
  • Previous experience in management or providing supervision is highly recommended
  • Clear National Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children's Check
  • NSW Drivers Licence (minimum Provisional 2 - Green P's)
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • Eligibility to work in Australia

Applicants who hold a relevant Postgraduate Qualification, have training and/or experience in working in disability services, drug and alcohol, mental health and juvenile criminal justice will be highly regarded for this role.  It will also be desirable if you have previous experience leading a multidisciplinary team working with children and young people who have experienced or are experiencing complex trauma and working with families within the child protection system.
