Marist180 (www.marist180.org.au) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating positive change for vulnerable young people and their families. Marist180 operates across multiple regions in both NSW and QLD, and are now seeking applications from dedicated and motivated Learning Support Workers to assist in the delivery of employment and training programs in south east Queensland for disadvantaged jobseekers.

The position

Reporting to the Training and Employment Coordinator, this role will involve intensive engagement and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and deliver employment and training programs for disadvantaged jobseekers. Working within a small and passionate team, the primary goal of the Learning and Support Worker is to ensure the participants in each program complete their training and armed with their new skills, go onto future employment opportunities. This position will suit a dynamic go-getter who is able to build rapport rapidly and is seeking to make a positive change within the local community.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Role modelling a positive attitude and supporting groups of jobseekers to complete pre-employment training through jobseeker engagement, participation, attendance and punctuality
  • Working closely with jobseekers to address any barriers by linking in with both internal and external service providers where beneficial
  • Efficient and accurate administration including casenotes and jobseeker files
  • Actively supporting and be involved in both training programs as well as team meetings

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Diploma level qualification in community services, teaching or similar; OR have an equivalent level of relevant work experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required at this level.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working alongside jobseekers and/or trainees to ensure completion of pre-employment training and improve job readiness
  • Experience addressing vocational and nonvocational barriers
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with individuals of all ages
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet contractual compliance standards
  • Demonstrated experience in case management including developing and managing case notes.
  • Current and Valid Blue Card
  • Unrestricted QLD Driver Licence and vehicle
  • Clear National Criminal History Check
  • Current and valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ability to work in Australia
