Marist180 (www.marist180.org.au) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating positive change for vulnerable young people and their families. Marist180 is seeking an experienced, passionate and energetic Employment Consultant.

The candidate:

Working within a small team of passionate and driven individuals, this position is a key client and community-facing role designed to provide support and assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients seeking employment.

Employment is a key factor in addressing non-vocational barriers across a range of life domains; this position gives you the opportunity to make a positive change in the lives of our clients through positive mentoring, advocacy and job placements into sustainable and suitable employment. As an Employment Consultant, you will:

  • Identify job seeker strengths, goals and barriers in order to assist job seekers into suitable and sustainable employment
  • Build and maintain stakeholder engagement both internally and externally, with a focus on sourcing appropriate vacancies suitable for your clients
  • Keep up to date and accurate job seeker files and case notes; and
  • Facilitate and participate proactively in team meetings

Essential Criteria:

This is an exciting role for someone who wants to make a difference and leave a positive footprint wherever they land. To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is accepted as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which he or she lives
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, with a high focus in securing employment vacancies on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers with the intention to improve job readiness
  • Extensive experience in addressing vocational and non-vocational barriers, as well as possessing an understanding of challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in securing training, skills development and employment opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, facilitating and monitoring all aspects of caseworker including referral, assessment, intake, case plan, review and exit planning
  • Excellent communication skills with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, but also within a team environment
  • Ability to work flexibly within a changing environment whilst maintaining contractual compliance standards
  • Possess a current unrestricted drivers licence and current Working with Children Check
  • Be able to pass a National Criminal History Check
