Marist180 is now seeking immediate applications from experienced and passionate Caseworkers who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to commence ASAP!

The position

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced and driven Caseworker who is passionate about creating positive change and supporting young people within the community - specifically with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. This role will work closely with young people who are experiencing disengagement from school, family disruption, or are at risk of contact with the juvenile justice system, Police or incarceration.

This role will involve:

  • Provision of effective casework support including intervention and referrals to relevant services
  • Travel throughout Western Sydney region to advocate and provide support for the young people
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key networks such as Juvenile Justice, Youth Koori Court, families, schools and internal stakeholders
  • Contribution to program reporting; and
  • Undertaking ongoing holistic assessments of young people at risk of offending

Essential Criteria:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is accepted as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in the community in which he or she lives
  • Extensive knowledge of cultural community protocols
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience in case management
  • Have relevant qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Welfare, Youth Work or similar
  • Be able to provide effective case management and culturally responsive practice
  • Possess a current unrestricted drivers licence and current Working with Children Check
  • Have a current and valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Be able to pass a National Criminal History Check
