THE POSITION

The Area Manager is responsible for operations across the Intensive Therapeutic Care services. ensuring service standards, contractual requirements, legislation and accreditation requirements are met. They oversee a team of House Managers and other Casework staff ensuring documentation is up to date and engagement with children and young people contributes to their well being. The Area Manager also maintains relationships with operational staff within DCJ and external agencies and other community services supports. The role is a Maternity leave cover for 12 months overseeing Newcastle, Hunter Region:

Primary accountability of the role of the Area Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Day-to-day Management, mentoring and performance management of a team of House Managers and Casework staff.
  • Ensuring the workforce is sufficiently available fill all shifts and deliver the supports required by Young People in our care.
  • Undertake supervision and performance management activities of direct reports and oversee these activities across area of responsibility to ensure effectiveness.
  • Demonstrating strong focus on operational matters, thus ensuring that houses are always in peak working order.
  • Building relationships with external Agencies including but not limited to DCJ, Juvenile Justice and NSW Health, Education and Communities and Police, Industry Peak Bodies, Community Visitors, Consultants and Contractors.
  • Develop strong working relationship with Senior Therapeutic Specialists to ensure all key documents, including risk management tools are developed and all staff are consulted and trained on their application.
  • Actively contribute to the client matching process to ensure client mix, staff and community risks are identified and addressed.

THE CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role you will need to hold the following qualifications, experience and skills, and work requirements:

Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification at Degree level (evidence of completing a relevant degree and 10 years sector experience is also acceptable).

Experience & Skills:

  • At least 3-5 years’ management or supervisory experience in a similar role, preferably in a NFP environment.
  • Experience in leading people in a community services setting.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven decision-making abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and data management abilities.
  • Well-developed computer skills.

Work Requirement:

  • Current and valid First Aid.
  • Current and valid CPR certification.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Clear National Criminal History Check.
  • Unrestricted NSW driver’s licence (minimum Provisional 2 licence).
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
