Inspired by Christian values, Many Rivers is a for-purpose organisation that provides Microenterprise Development (MED) and Community Economic Development (CED) support to Indigenous and other Australians who want to access the economy however for various reasons, lack the financial or practical business support to do so.

Our purpose is to walk alongside individuals and communities over the long term, offering accessible business development support, products and services. With this support individuals and communities can regain control of their financial future, reduce personal stress, move away from welfare dependency, provide for their families and contribute more productively to society.

CED Manager Role (Darwin)

Our Community Economic Development Managers (CEDM) work with Indigenous communities that want to establish economic activity on their land and sea. This position reports to the Head of Community Economic Development, supporting and driving our purpose across the Darwin and NT Top-End region. We have a tested and innovative Community Economic Development (CED) framework and methodology to work with Indigenous communities as they strengthen the foundations of their community organisation to manage long-term and successful businesses and employment. Some of the role’s key responsibilities include:

  • Working across the region to identify, recommend and engage suitable communities for economic development support as per Many Rivers CED Framework.
  • Facilitating and providing guidance and support to the agreed areas of economic development work with the community organisation board and management.
  • Supporting the establishment and/or expansion of businesses and employment to achieve net positive economic activity in a community.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of Many Rivers’ policies, processes, and product initiatives.
  • Undertaking personal development and ensuring a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment.

Who We Are Looking For?

Our CED Managers have experience working with Indigenous communities, are experts in business and financial management, understand corporate governance and organisational management and can lead strategic/business/organisational planning.  We are looking for diligent self-starters who have a demonstrated ability to project-manage for outcomes, are relational, commercially savvy, and are energised by the challenges and opportunities to support communities to achieve real and tangible enterprise and employment outcomes.

In addition to your technical skills and experience to support economic development, candidates are:

  • Share Many Rivers’ motivation and commitment to serve people from all walks of life.
  • Impeccable integrity, trust, respect, stewardship, strong cultural awareness and commitment to people in disadvantaged circumstances.
  • Have a current driver’s licence and a freedom to travel, frequent intra-regional travel is required as is the ability to travel extensively within the region

Successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks including reference checks, Criminal History check, Equifax Check and Working with Children/ Vulnerable People check, where applicable.
