This is a negotiable Fixed-term, Full-time, Part time or Casual position based in Seymour, Victoria.

Flexible hours are required for mornings, evenings and weekend shifts.

Vaccination against COVID-19 may be a requirement of appointment to this position.

Position purpose:

Flexible Funding Packages, including Targeted Care Packages (TCPs), are an allocation of funding attached to a specific child or young person based on an assessment of that child’s needs. TCPs aim to enable the transition of the child from residential care into an alternate living arrangement where their experience of care is more positive, and their needs better met. TCPs provide flexibility to personalise supports to the individual needs of children and their carers assisting in alternate placements outside of residential care such as; family reunification, kinship, home-based care, lead tenant or independent living.

The Flexible Funding Packages Support Worker is responsible for supporting the Keyworker, which includes responding to the young person’s emotional and functional needs, the development of their personal skills, all administrative requirements and provide other practical assistance relating to the young person.

This role reports to the respective Keyworker, who will provide supervision. This role has no direct reports.

Primary objectives:

  • Ensure that the children and young people’s rights and interests are protected at all times, and act as an effective role model.
  • Through goal directed, planned and integrated therapeutic interventions use all interactions as opportunities for therapeutic gain and positive engagement.
  • Support the children and young people to maintain important links with their family of origin, friendship networks and the local community.
  • Contribute to an environment that provides a sense of safety, structure, acceptance and security at all times for children, young people and staff, by providing relevant feedback as required.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and out of home care), or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • A current valid Victorian driver’s licence and be able to drive MacKillop vehicles in the conduct of the position requirements, including transportation of clients.
  • Knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and policies relating to child welfare, family services and Child Protection Services.
  • An understanding of Trauma and how best to work with children and young people in program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working in the community sector – including, residential care, home based care, disability, family specialist and family reunification.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check;
  • Valid Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check

The Australian Government recently introduced the NDIS Worker Screening Check, an additional, national legislated compliance requirement to determine if a person is cleared to work with people with disability. MacKillop requires all client facing staff obtain the NDIS Worker Screening Check.
