This is a Part-time Fixed (30.4 hours per week – 0.8 EFT until 30/06/2025) opportunity based in Perth, WA or Darwin, NT within our Good Grief, Clinical Services Division Program.

Position Purpose

The Consultant – Seasons for Growth in Schools is situated in the Good Grief team in the MacKillop Clinical Services Division. The Good Grief team provides evidence-based change, loss and grief programs to support children, young people and adults in schools and communities.
The Consultant – Seasons for Growth in Schools, will provide state leadership and coordination of the Department of Health national project “Seasons for Growth evidence-based loss and grief programs – delivering suicide prevention and postvention supporting young people at risk of suicide.” Through this project, MacKillop Family Services will support young people at risk of suicide by building the capacity of leadership and staff in Australian schools and communities to deliver the Seasons for Growth evidence-based change, loss and grief education programs.

The Consultant – Seasons for Growth in Schools is a member of the Seasons for Growth in Schools project in Good Grief and reports to the National Lead – Seasons for Growth in Schools.

Primary Objectives

The Consultant – Seasons for Growth in Schools will lead and coordinate the project to build the capacity of schools in the national project to support schools at risk of suicide by:

  • Leading and coordinating the state-wide response for the region
  • Creating and managing relationships with key stakeholders in education, Headspace Schools/Be You and organisations delivering services related to suicide prevention
  • Identifying the needs of children, young people, parents/carers and professionals and contributing to the development of resources to meet these needs
  • Developing and implementing a project plan to ensure efficient and effective delivery for the region
  • Delivering parent/carer and professional learning sessions in school communities to build knowledge and community capacity
  • Identifying opportunities for communications, advocacy and engagement plan for the project
  • Contributing to the project evaluation and reporting

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant qualification in education, health or relevant discipline with specialist knowledge and experience in suicide prevention/postvention and loss and grief with knowledge of the Seasons for Growth programs highly desirable;
  • Experience in delivering services to support young people through health and/or education; demonstrating achievement of key performance indicators against a project plan;
  • Demonstrated understanding of working across health and education sectors.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to operate effectively at a state/territory level and build relationships and partnerships with stakeholders including key government, non-government and community partners.
