About the role

This position is situated within the Barwon Home Based Care Program which is responsible for providing out of home care placements to children in the Barwon region and ensuring all their day-to-day care needs are met.

The Home-Based Care Support worker will work in collaboration with the home-based care case managers to assist them in supporting the children, their careers, and families with practical day to day tasks for children and young people in care as required.

The Home-Based Care Support Worker is a member of the Home-Based Care Program in Barwon and reports to the Home Based Care Coordinator or Senior Case Manager as per delegation of Program Coordinator.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Demonstrated genuine caring for and understanding of working with children.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with children and young people, their careers and birth families maintaining a flexible, tolerant, and non-judgmental attitude.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional approach.
  • Current Working with Children check or willingness to obtain prior to commencing role.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated experience of caring for children and young people independently.
  • Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff, and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.
