About the Program

MacKillop Rural Community Services (MRCS) Program has three main service streams, Child and Family Services, Youth Services and Disability Services. Services are based in Balranald, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Coonabarabran, Coonamble, Gulargambone, Lightning Ridge, Nyngan, Walgett and Dubbo.

About the role

The Early Childhood, Early Intervention (ECEI) Coordinator sits within the MacKillop Rural unit which provide family support, supported playgroups, parenting and early childhood education, counselling and support to young people who are vulnerable and at risk of homelessness, in-home accommodation support to adults with a disability, and early childhood intervention to children with a disability.

The ECEI Coordinator will work with children 0-6 years who have a developmental delay or disability. The ECEI Coordinator will undertake assessments, develop and support interventions that will improve the child’s overall quality of life. The ECEI Coordinator will work closely with other service providers including, mainstream providers, community groups and children’s services to promote development, wellbeing, community participation and inclusion outcomes. The ECEI Coordinator will work within the Statement of Requirements as set out by the National Disability and Insurance Agency (NDIA).

The ECEI Coordinator is a part of the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) team, is based at Nyngan and reports to the Program Manager – MacKillop Rural.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families;
  • Qualifications in Early Childhood, Disability or Allied Health
  • Experience in early childhood, disability or relevant field
  • Understanding of the Disability, Child, Youth and Family Services sector, including Child Protection
  • Ability to follow and implement programs for children with different abilities (or special needs) and their families
  • Ability to work independently and in a small team situation
  • Willingness to work flexibly to cater to the needs of the service
  • Demonstrated high level of written/oral communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively. Strong computer skills and ability to navigate participant management data portals to ensure accurate client records are maintained.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining professional boundaries while engaging with vulnerable people
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational, administrative and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, priorities and plan effectively
  • Current Driver’s License & willingness to travel
