MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC) are looking to fill a vacancy of Coordinator - Community Safety.

You will be positioned in Alice Springs and spend approximately 60% in remote communities, working closely with our Community Safety staff members.

The MacDonnell region is located in the centre of Australia. Covering 270,000sq km and with an estimated population approaching 7,000, it has a unique beauty with picturesque water holes, magnificent flora and fauna, red desert sands and rugged mountain ranges.

This position will be based in our Alice Springs Office, which is the regional headquarters to councils' 13 remote communities and outstation locations.

As the Coordinator - Community Safety, you will be responsible for coordinating the effective delivery of Community Safety programs in designated MacDonnell Regional Council communities and ensure that the responsibilities of this position are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, Council policies and procedures, contractual requirements, and the core values of the Council.

Our successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification in Community Safety or a related field, certificate III in community night patrol or the willingness to obtain, a current drivers licence, ochre card and First Aid certificate or the willingness to obtain and, 12 months within a leadership role including training and mentoring staff on different levels of literacy and numeracy, experience and demonstrated ability to work in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment and experience operating a 4WD vehicle on unsealed roads.
