With direct responsibility for the executive coordination of all Lutheran Services pastoral care programs, the Director of Chaplaincy will provide expert advice to the CEO and Council of Lutheran Services on Theological, Ethics and Pastoral care matters.

About the role

To be successful in this role you will have a consultative approach with the ability to work closely with Stakeholders across the Lutheran Church Australia Queensland District (LACQD) and Churchwide as well as Lutheran Services Chaplains, Employees and External Stakeholders.

You will:

  • Possess strong leadership capabilities being responsible for all Lutheran Services Chaplains, providing a person-centred focus, in order to continuously improve the Lutheran Services pastoral care programs.
  • Foster strategic partnerships to identify and implement collaborative strategies to form strong missional relationships between Lutheran Services and the wider Lutheran Church.
  • Drive innovative and strategic thinking in the delivery of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Practice for the Chaplaincy program across the organisation.
  • Provide advice to the CEO and Council on matters pertaining to theology, church matters and pastoral ministry.
  • Provide training to staff around Lutheran identity and model of care.
  • Provide support for Lutheran Volunteer Hospital Chaplains.

You will have:

  • Bachelor of Theology and be an ordained Lutheran Pastor or practising Lutheran lay person with formal Theological qualifications from a recognised Lutheran tertiary institution.
  • Experience in the effective implementation of staff spiritual formation programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating organisational improvement projects.
