Renewables Not Gas Network Coordinator

Lock the Gate Alliance Limited

The Role

We are at critical moment in energy debates around the world. The need to leapfrog fossil fuels into the cheaper, less damaging zero emissions technologies is now upon us. Yet in Australia, Governments and the fossil fuel industry are pushing hard to rebrand climate action as a call for new gas projects across vast areas of the continent whilst delaying renewable energy opportunities.

There is a growing threat of new gasfields and fracking projects pushing over regional communities and waterways. Sustained community action and united efforts from farmers and Traditional Owners has managed to protect critical regions for years, yet the push from Governments and industry has never been tougher. This is a crucial point in history to ensure we do not sacrifice land, water and communities to be locked into polluting gas for decades to come and instead seize renewable opportunities as the key to long-term regional economic diversification.
