After recently celebrating 10 years of impact in northern Uganda, Love Mercy Foundation is seeking a new CEO to deliver the strategic direction to grow fundraising and operations across Australia and Uganda.

We see communities in northern Uganda thriving independently, by increasing access to health care, clean water, food security and income generation. We exist to co-design innovative solutions and build on existing strengths with local communities to overcome poverty and increase wellbeing

Working with a small, passionate and supportive team based in Sydney’s south, the Chief Executive Officer will work in partnership with Love Mercy Foundation’s Board to execute the strategic direction of the organisation. You will work closely with two co-founders both in Australia and in Uganda, as well as with a team of local experts delivering projects locally. The role will have ultimate responsibility for overall financial management and success of the organisation. You will also be responsibly for maintaining and expanding sector wide leadership in the role by engaging with peak bodies such as ACFID and DFAT.

Who should apply?

We are open to applications from both experienced CEOs / General Managers, and, those seeking to step up into this position (potentially from a Fundraising Manager role). Experience in not-for-profit and international development is highly desirable, particularly in Uganda or Africa more broadly. You will be a confident, professional, entrepreneurial, and authentic ‘go-getter’ who is highly target driven and loves connecting with people and building relationships. You will be recognised as a driving force to build revenue, reputation and relationships with our individual donors, stakeholders and community groups.

You will be collaborative and inclusive in your style and demonstrate an ability to be a story-teller and ambassador of the Love Mercy Foundation journey and impact. This role requires confident communication and an ability to communicate cross-culturally. You will continue to grow our reputation as a sector leader in social impact measurement and reporting, and will have the ultimate responsibility for empowering our local team for success. You will demonstrate and value the qualities of integrity, compassion, equality. You will feel a deep connection to our cause which will fuel your passion for the role.
