THE ORGANISATION

Mary Ward International Australia (MWIA) is the aid and development organisation of the Loreto Province of Australia and South East Asia. Working across nine countries as part of a global network focused largely on education and social justice, MWIA works with women and communities to reduce poverty and create just and sustainable change. 

MWIA is a member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), accredited by the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC), and endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for promoting MWIA and its supported projects in Australia and overseas by: 

• Enthusiastically engaging schools, the Loreto network and broader community in social justice and poverty reduction issues. 
• Contributing to the development and delivery of MWIA community engagement and fundraising activities. 
• Coordinating engagement and promotional events. 
• Designing and implementing strategies to “friend raise” for MWIA within and outside the Loreto network.
• Developing and leading an internship program. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have relevant tertiary qualifications in community or international development, communications and marketing, education and training or similar, with the ability to build quick rapport and engage with young people. 

You have an appreciation and respect for the Loreto vision, mission and values, including a good understanding of social justice and disadvantage issues.

Specifically, you can demonstrate: 

• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain effective relationships internally and externally, as well as with people from diverse backgrounds. 
• Enthusiasm to raise funds in support of the Loreto Sisters’ development works.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as autonomously.

• Ability to balance multiple projects.
• Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to plan workload, priorities and meet deadlines.
