Loo Crew Staff - Marion Bay

Bob Brown Foundation Loo Crew

The Bob Brown Foundation (BBF) is looking for paid staff to join our infamous Loo Crew at the Marion Bay Falls Festival 2019. Each year the Loo Crew manages close to 400 amazing water-less composting toilets, saving epic amounts of water and turning the human wast into usable manure!

Loo Crew is a collection of people from the environmental and social activist community coming together to support the Bob Brown Foundation by helping them raise much needed funds for their important environmental campaign work. We hope that the successful candidates support, contribute and commit to the BBF ethos when joining Loo Crew this year at Falls, but also in the years to come.

We are looking to recruit "Down Stairs" Loo technicians. Under each toilet at Falls is a wheelie bin collecting the "humanure" and we need people to change these bins when full, manage and fix any problems that arise and lead a team of volunteers who are simultaneously cleaning the toilets "up-stairs". This role demands heavy lifting and a lot of walking; would suit people who are physically active and OK to work long shifts outdoors. It is also essential that you have basic skills in using a drill, and some independence and common sense in tackling some on the job problem solving and repair work/maintenance around the toilet blocks. We also require our Down Stairs crew to take on leadership roles, managing small teams of volunteers and delegate jobs that need to be done, so good communication is a must. Also no good if you're squirmish around human waste!

We are also seeking 1x on-shift co-coordinator; responsible for delegating the roles and responsibilities of the Down Stairs crew and volunteers who are on shift. This role would suit someone with strong leadership skills, experience in managing volunteers at festivals, a lot of independence, the ability to problem solve and make effective and quick decisions, strong communication skills, someone who is super organised and very practical.

All Loo Crew Staff need to be on site (Marion Bay) by 12 noon Saturday 28th December and stay onsite to work 28 hours across apx 4/5 shifts that we allocate you over a 24 hour roster until 6pm Wednesday the 1st 2020.

In return for your work you will be fairly remunerated with award rates and penalties, we'll provide 3 nutritious camped cooked vegan meals per day, entry to the Falls Festival, access to hot showers and power, free tea and coffee 24/7 and our famous and exclusive Yurt chill space, Oh and a ticket to the biggest party - the Falls After Party on the 1st Jan 2020 after all the work is done.
