This role is situated within Council's Community Services Branch. About the role

The Senior Community Development Officer will lead high profile community initiatives and coordinate a team of Community Development Officers. This role works in a multidisciplinary team environment, delivering and facilitating a range of initiatives and strategies that respond to government and community priorities.

To be successful in the role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in Human Services or other relevant fields is preferable, but proven experience in community development and a good understanding of strengths based community development theories and principles is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing collaborative partnerships with local organisations, other levels of government, elected representatives and community.
  • An excellent understanding of community priorities and the ability to influence and drive community development initiatives and strategies.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to listen, empathise and interact well with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated high level of written communication skills with the ability to present, prepare professional reports, policies, strategies, grants and correspondence.
  • Exceptional project management and interpersonal skills.
  • A high degree of autonomy and an ability to manage several priorities at any one time.
