Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services is based in Bendigo and has recently joined the National Redress Scheme as a Redress support provider. We are recruiting experienced and dedicated workers to join our team, so that we can support people from culturally diverse and mainstream backgrounds, who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse, to access support from the Scheme.

position summary

The Team Leader is part of a highly skilled team, providing person-centred trauma-informed practice and support to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse ('National Redress Support Services'), with a focus on, but not limited to people with multicultural backgrounds. Your extensive experience in providing therapeutic support and case management will see you succeed in this exciting role. With your knowledge of self-care and self-awareness you will be supported within a safe environment that includes regular peer supervision and debriefing. Your caring and compassionate nature will see you thrive in this position.

The Team Leader will, in collaboration with the Redress Advocate, conduct research, stakeholder and community engagement in multicultural and other communities to support people who face barriers to access the Redress scheme. The Team Leader will also provide information, support, assisted referrals, and individual advocacy as required.

The Team Leader will actively conduct outreach, information sessions and networking to raise awareness in the Loddon Campaspe Region about the National Redress Scheme, with a view to creating referral networks for eligible people.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the impact on individuals and their families of sexual abuse and the skills required in working therapeutically with these individuals. They will also demonstrate an understanding of cross-cultural issues in multicultural, Indigenous and Anglo-Caucasian communities in providing services to individuals, families and communities who have experienced sexual abuse.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • A minimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology and/or Behavioural or Social Science, counselling or any relevant degree is essential. Post graduate qualifications in these areas is desirable.
  • A minimum of two years' proven experience in the provision of clinical support and case management to clients with complex issues who have experienced sexual trauma, including supportive and warm referrals and links to additional and community supports.
  • Clear and accurate understanding about the Redress Scheme.
  • Experience in managing staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to independently represent LCMS at meetings, events and networking opportunities, in particular within the multicultural community space.
  • Understanding of empowerment and capacity building frameworks.
  • Experience in project development and implementation, including developing and maintaining partnerships.
  • Ability to do public speaking and give presentations and information/ education sessions to relevant stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Post graduate qualifications in these areas is desirable.
  • From a culturally and linguistically diverse background
  • Ability to speak a community language
