Multicultural Services is a membership-based organisation and the peak body for refugee and migrant groups in Central Victoria. POSITION SUMMARY

This role will see the Team Leader’s experience and understanding of people leadership and management, quality, innovation, and service improvement employed to ensure the delivery of evidence informed services with measurable client outcomes.

The Team Leader is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations, supervision, and reporting in line with service agreements and organisational expectations and will assist to develop and lead a highly competent, engaged, and professional team.

The Team Leader of Community Programs and Capacity Building oversees community programs and community engagement. Overseeing community programs involves managing staff, program development, implementation, and reporting. Community engagement responsibilities include relationship development, community consultation and partnership management.

The Team Leader will report to the Operations Manager.

Organisational responsibilities:

  • Implement additional projects from time to time, which may be the sole responsibility of the team leader
  • Work from a culturally sensitive, community development framework
  • Participate in training as agreed between supervisor and employee
  • Participate in monthly supervision
  • Participate in organisational meetings and activities
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to meet community need
  • undertake other duties, as required

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Bachelor of Social Work or a combination of other relevant degree and extensive work experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in community development roles
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in staff management/leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of the needs of new arrivals, at both the individual and community level
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent spoken and written English, including experience in writing reports, grant application and in public speaking
  • Ability to undertake evening and weekend work (approx. once a week)
  • Ability to capacity build team members in various areas including cultural competency
  • Ability to oversee and implement training and to develop training resources.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of a second language
  • Existing connections and networks within the community and multicultural sectors in the Loddon Campaspe region

CONDITIONS

  • Satisfactory Police check on a yearly basis or as requested by Multicultural Services.
  • A current working with children’s check.
  • A current driver’s licence and access to own vehicle during work hours.
