LNAC is seeking an experienced and innovative Business Development Manager to provide leadership and direction, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, to enhance the LNAC’s strategic commercial and cultural objectives.

You will have the capacity to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to operate effectively and respectfully in a cross-cultural setting. Applicants should possess high-level communication, conceptual and analytical skills as well as the ability to anticipate and manage change.

You will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of Culturally appropriate business growth strategies to encourage the Larrakia people to preserve, protect and promote their culture.

The successful applicant will possess significant experience in managing cultural events, tourism business and promotion of indigenous culture. Experience identifying and successfully pursuing business opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements, and stakeholder engagement is required.

A knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and the issues affecting Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory is a core requirement for the successful applicant.

Selection Criteria

Essential

1. Experience in business management in tourism and cultural activities relevant to the LNAC
2. Outstanding oral and written communication skills
3. Demonstrated experience in both internal and external stakeholder management
4. Experience and competence in the use of computers (including word processing and email) and the ability to maintain accurate, but confidential, administrative records
5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and manage workloads in an allotted timeframe
6. Good knowledge and understanding of the issues and factors affecting Indigenous people in the Northern Territory
7. Understanding and experience of cultural protocols, together with a willingness to work respectfully in accordance with Larrakia and other Indigenous culture
8. Current NT Driver’s License (C Class minimum)

Desirable

1. Identify as Indigenous.
2. Experience in change management processes.
