ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a new position working as part of a dedicated settlement team. We are looking to welcome a values-driven individual who can lead the program to success and have a significant impact in the local community.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver casework services to CALD clients experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV) as part of an integrated and person-centred approach that prioritises the needs of survivors and their children
  • Develop and deliver early intervention programs to increase community understanding of DFV and gender equality.
  • Establish and maintain effective referral pathways to specialised DFV, emergency housing and legal services.
  • Attend external interagency meetings, forums, committees, conferences, consultations, and community events.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Qualifications in a relevant field such as community services or social work; at minimum Cert IV in community services or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in domestic and family violence service delivery including casework and early intervention programs
  • Experience in organising and facilitating group-based sessions and projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system including the child protection system.
  • Understanding of social and settlement issues affecting refugees and CALD communities living in South Western Sydney
  • Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills alongside skill and experience in utilising electronic databases
  • Proven effective written and verbal communication skills in a community language is desirable
