Lives Lived Well has recently commenced a new day-based mobile Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation program, called Nana Muru. The service incorporates both day programs and withdrawal support, using a blend of place-based service delivery and mobile outreach.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse to help build and establish this new service. You will play an integral part of establishing and building relationships with GP network in the service regions. Our ideal candidate has a strong knowledge or connection to the region and the community.

About the area

This role is based in Nowra, situated on the beautiful Shoalhaven River, close to many popular natural and cultural features of the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands and a 2-hour drive to Sydney.

About the role

This is an ongoing part time position working 22.8 (3 days per week) job sharing with our current experienced Registered Nurse, working from our office in Nowra and outreaching to the Bay and Basin region south east of Nowra. You will coordinate and monitor the delivery of community-based mobile withdrawal support for clients, provide assessment, care planning and evidence-informed care in collaboration with the treating General Practitioner/s (GP) and counsellor/case managers within the service. This will look like:

  • Build and foster positive relationships with GP and health care network
  • Coordinate the referral, intake and assessment process for clients seeking entry into the Withdrawal Support Program.
  • Lead the formulation of a shared care plan with the treating GP who is managing the client/s medical withdrawal regime
  • Work on ground to help establish and build the service in the community
  • Monitor the physical and psychological condition of clients who are receiving withdrawal support
  • We will provide relocation assistance to help you move back to this beautiful region and be an integral part of starting this service.

The hourly rate is $45.08 per hour plus super. We are fortunate that our employees can also access $18,540 salary packaging which increases your take home pay.

Our new Registered Nurse will have:

  • Current registration and qualification as a Registered Nurse (e.g. AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of client centred nursing care, including experience working with individuals with problematic alcohol and substance use and/or mental health issues
  • Contemporary knowledge of the issues relating to drug and alcohol withdrawal, including psychopharmacology.
  • Excellent stakeholder consultation skills
  • Demonstrated triage skills in clinical assessment, decision making and providing nursing interventions.
  • Experience in working with general practice and/or primary health care settings
  • Proven capacity to work flexibly in the context of a community-based setting and to provide crisis support and referral
  • Proven capacity to work as an effective team member and relate positively to a diverse range of clients, colleagues and health professionals.
