About the area

This role is based in Toowoomba, an hour and a half drive from Brisbane CBD in the beautiful Darling Downs Region in Southern Queensland. This area is known for being the Garden City and the region offers a lot to explore.

About the opportunity

We are looking for an individual who will be responsible for providing brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions to consumers with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety and provide in-reach support in Residential Aged Care Facilities. This will include:

  • Provide high quality engagement, assessment, counselling and support services to clients and their families using evidence-based practice principles.
  • Facilitate and/or support various group activities offered within a RACF or in conjunction with affiliated support services
  • Collaborate with service providers, inclusive of Aged Care facilities.
  • Screen residents at RACFs for eligibility to the NewAccess Program
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week, to minimise waiting times and to ensure that the service remains accessible and convenient.

This is a full time, ongoing position and will be provided with great support from an enthusiastic Team Leader and a team of New Access Coach, based across South West QLD.

The salary range for is $70,000 to $75,000 annually. We are fortunate that our employees can also access $18,540 salary packaging which increases their take home pay.

What you will bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling or mental health (or related discipline)
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health conditions and the mental health sector
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Proven engagement and communication skills, particularly by telephone
  • Understanding of cognitive impairment affecting Aged Persons
  • Ability to organise and deliver recreational activities and experiences to Aged Persons alongside the ability to be creative and innovative.
