  • Warm, friendly and intelligent lady to work with

I am a warm, friendly and intelligent lady living in the Annerley area. I have limited movement and strength due to my physical disability caused by a genetic neurological condition (SMA3, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, type 3). I use a powerchair for mobility and hoist for transfers.

Years working as a C.P.A. (Certified Practicing Accountant) has given me the experience to journey through life’s ups and downs with a sense of logic, realism and analytical wisdom. I live with my elderly parents, so it is very important to me that you able to connect with my family and myself. Relatives and friends often visit too. I enjoy going out on short outings from time to time, the movies, shopping, lunching, listening to music, reading and church. Hydrotherapy is also very important to me and allows me to maintain the limited movement and strength that I have as long as possible.

THE ROLE:

I am seeking to add an additional “support worker” to be part of my team to assist me in my daily activities so that I can live a “normal life” in my own home with my family.

Due to the nature of the care I require, I am looking for a female to join my team for approximately 7+ hours per week with extra hours as they arise during the week so you must have the capacity to be very flexible.

  • Saturday mornings 6am-11am and Saturday afternoons 5pm-7pm (shift ending times are flexible depending on how I am feeling, how well my body and mind are cooperating with each other and of course the weather has a huge impact on how easy it is to get out and about)
  • Drive me to outings and activities (in my fully adapted vehicle Mercedes Vito Van with Braun hoist and wheelchair tie-down restraints)
  • Attend to all personal care
  • Meal preparation
  • Light household duties

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Flexible, responsive and have the ability to do fill-in shifts as and when required
  • Have own roadworthy car and driver’s license
  • Have experience with hoisting, personal care, cooking and light home duties
  • Have lots of initiative, attention to detail and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be physically fit due to the physical nature of the position
  • Have a genuine, caring soul and be able to contribute positively in my life.

THE OFFER:

I have a great deal of drive and ambition and this role will help to facilitate my life in a meaningful way which will bring a great deal of satisfaction to the right person. There will also be full training with buddy shifts to ensure that you are comfortable and confident in the role. As a self-managed NDIS participant you deal directly with me, a PAYG employer with superannuation and Workcover insurance. Pay rates are as per Level 3.2 of the S.C.H.C & D.S.I Award 2010 (Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010).
