We are looking for a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse to work as an integral part of the team providing a safe, supportive and structured environment that inspires genuine and lasting change for our residents.

Set on a beautiful property in Mareeba, Shanty Creek is our Indigenous alcohol and drug residential rehabilitation centre that provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women, aged 18 years and over, who are experiencing alcohol or other drugs dependency or misuse and mental health concerns.

The salary range for this $37.10 to $43.25 per hour. We are fortunate that our employees can also access $18,540 salary packaging which increases your take home pay. This position is an ongoing role, working 22.8 hours per week.

About the role:

As the Registered Nurse you will coordinate and monitor the delivery of support for residents at Shanty Creek Residential Centre in Mareeba. This position will provide client centred, evidence-informed care that assists in the achievement of optimal health outcomes for residents with AOD dependency and a broad range of associated psychological and physiological issues.

Duties will include:

  • Clinical Lead for medication and medical / mental health treatment management of clients in residential treatment
  • Monitor the physical condition of residents
  • Coordinate the medical aspects of the service
  • Conduct holistic health care assessments (inc. mental health assessments) and assist in formulation of treatment plans for clients
  • Develop and implement a primary care stakeholder engagement plan
  • Medication management for the service
  • Provide Intake support

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of client centred nursing care
  • Significant service delivery experience with Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Demonstrated experience providing support to clinical staff
  • Experience and knowledge of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including people from remote communities
  • Proven capacity to work flexibly in the context of a community-based setting and to provide crisis support
  • Experience in working with general practice and/or primary health care settings
