Organisational Development Consultant

Do you have strong skills in organisational planning and review, policy and systems development? In this role you will apply these skills to enable our partner organisations to sustainably and effectively achieve their social impact goals.

This role is based either in Naarm (Melbourne), or in regional Victoria within periodic commuting distance to Naarm.

Lirata Ltd (www.lirata.com) is a small, independent not-for-profit organisation based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. We are a ‘social justice multiplier’ – we magnify the efforts of the many organisations and individuals working for positive change.

We operate as a social enterprise, delivering our work through consultancy, capacity building and systems advocacy. We specialise in the health, community services, education and development sectors. We work with all tiers of government, service providers, peak bodies, advocacy organisations, socially engaged businesses and many others to assist them to:

  • Become more effective in achieving their goals.
  • Achieve greater sustainability.
  • Adopt more ethical and empowering approaches.

Each year we work on 25+ projects across Australia. We assist our partner organisations with planning, review, evaluation and development. We also create new approaches, tools and frameworks for social justice work.

About this position

Working as a member of multiple project teams, you will be involved in scoping, planning and delivering high quality organisational development services. You will be working with a diverse range of project partners, from advocacy organisations to community service providers or government departments.

Your focus is to strengthen our partner organisations’ plans, policies, structures, systems and skills. You will work collaboratively with our stakeholders to:

  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans
  • Design and review services, projects and organisational approaches
  • Develop and review governance and operational policies, procedures and systems
  • Provide advice and guidance on human resources, equity and inclusion, organisational structure, quality and risk, and change management
  • Support personal and professional growth through providing training, mentoring, assisting with 360 Degree performance reviews, and more.

Every project is unique. The work is varied and will draw on all your skills in engaging stakeholders, analysing processes and systems, synthesising information and providing clear and practical recommendations for action.

Your work will contribute directly to our core purpose of assisting individuals and organisations to become more effective in achieving their social justice goals. Together, our work builds much-needed capacity for positive social change.

Work arrangements

Staff are currently working remotely. We have strong communication systems, frequent all-staff check-ins, and regular supervision to ensure that all staff feel connected and supported. We will return to a mix of remote and office-based work when COVID restrictions allow.

About you

You have a long-standing personal commitment to social justice. You have a strong collaborative approach and outstanding people and communication skills, which enable you to work well with diverse stakeholders around challenging topics.

You have experience in governance and/or management roles, and a strong knowledge of contemporary governance and management approaches for not-for-profit organisations. You are a skilled and detail-focused project manager.

Your are great at designing and analysing organisational systems, and are experienced in development of organisational policies and processes. You have also led or been a strong contributor to organisational planning processes. You have a demonstrated ability to foster positive and supportive cultures in teams and organisations.

You are resilient and flexible, able to adapt in the face of challenges and persist to achieve long-term goals.
