Lighthouse Foundation provides therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where young people can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Supporting vulnerable young people through delivering experiential education to those around them
  • Developing stakeholder relationships within the community and be an effective advocate for young people
  • Supporting the delivery of project outcomes in line with the project plan and grant requirements
  • Supporting the development of educational content which is centred on the experiences of vulnerable young people
  • Working within Lighthouse’s Model of Care which centres the experiences of vulnerable young people in all our work
  • Participating in a culture in which young people and staff are truly valued and community members feel a sense of belonging

This role’s purpose is to support the development, coordination, and delivery of a pilot project of experiential education to the various communities that sit around vulnerable children and young people, including families, foster carers, teachers, social groups, extracurricular groups, and students. This project aims to reduce the marginalisation these young people experience.

The primary duties will involve developing and delivering the training, liaising with the diverse clientele base, and supporting the project delivery in line with the project plan and grant requirements. This is a unique opportunity to consolidate training skills and contribute to a meaningful project that ultimately supports a highly vulnerable population. The role will be primarily based from the Lighthouse Richmond Youth Resource Centre.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in delivering training and/or caring for or working with vulnerable young people
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (Employee)
  • Complete a National Criminal Records check, and participate in a psycho-social screen by Lighthouse
  • Provide consent for a Disqualified Carers Check
  • Hold a valid Victorian driver's licence
