The Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by trauma, and homelessness.

We create caring communities where children and young people can feel safe, and recover from traumatic experiences through building meaningful relationships. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people.

THE ROLE

Lighthouse is seeking a Director of Finance to join our passionate and innovative team to manage the organisation’s long-term financial health and growth. As Director of Finance, you will report to the CEO and be an integral part of the Executive Team, where you will use your exception financial and analytic skills to manage budgets, and forecast future needs that improve the performance and increase financial efficiency of the organisation.

You will be leading the Finance Team and be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the organisation, overseeing financial processes including accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly and statutory reporting.

Together with the CEO, you will report on and present financial results and analysis to the Finance Sub Committee and Board to track results against KPIs and support strategic, operational and commercial decision-making.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

First and foremost, interpersonal skills are a must, with a level of maturity and understanding needed when working with those who use our services. You will be solution focused, strategic in your thinking and have a collaborative and respectful collegiate approach.

PROFESSSIONALLY, YOU REQUIRE:

Qualifications and Licences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CPA or CA.
  • Criminal Records check.
  • Current Working with Children check.

Critical skills should include:

  • Experience in financial management in a NFP agency preferably within the community services sector.
  • Knowledge of DGR status requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience, skills and competencies in general ledger systems.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting, analysis and forecasting with the ability to present results to an audience.
  • Sound decision-making skills based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Exceptional time management and ability to solve problems, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage finance staff, and collaborate with senior management to plan and achieve the organisation’s financial goals.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Risk management acumen
  • Advances computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and experience in approval of payroll transactions.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Previous exposure to the application and operation of Modern Awards.
  • Previous experience in the evaluation of and implementation of general ledger accounting systems
