Who are we?

The Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse, and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships, and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.

How will you help?

Working in a close-knit Finance team and reporting directly to the Head of Finance, your role is pivotal to ensuring accurate financial records and support organisation wide adherence to financial policies and procedures.

Operationally, you will be responsible for the completion of month-end financial reporting, including all associated tasks. You will help deliver budgets, assist with regular and ad-hoc reporting requests, and closely monitor financial compliance matters.

Whilst the team extends to an Assistant Accountant and Payroll Officer, you may be required to assist across other functions within the finance team.

What do I need to be successful?

First and foremost, interpersonal skills are a must, with a level of maturity and understanding needed when working with those who use our services.

From a professional standpoint, you will require:

Qualifications and Licences:

• Degree qualified in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related discipline
• CA or CPA membership

Critical Skills should include:

• A strong background budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Cash flow management
• Ability to adhere to deadlines and meeting KPI’s while working under pressure
• Able to work effectively with a wide range of diverse people, including stakeholders
• High levels of computer literacy
• Ability to work collaboratively at program, organisational and sector

Desirable experience and skills:

• Non-for-Profit experience
• Intermediate to Advance knowledge of Excel
• Good understanding of the grant management process including acquittals
