About the role

In this permanent full-time position based in Wollongong, you will be responsible for delivering clinical and therapeutic services to children and young people with complex trauma histories within our Intensive Therapeutic Care Program.

This will include conducting assessments, developing, and supervising the implementation of therapeutic care plans and positive behaviour support plans and providing ongoing clinical support and training to staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and expertise in the formulation of Therapeutic Care Plans
  • Work with case managers to inform ongoing implementation and review of plans
  • Prepare positive behaviour support and individual crisis management plans
  • Carry out assessments of young people in LWB care
  • Facilitate monthly reflective practice sessions for direct care staff
  • Model and provide advice on CARE and TCI practices to staff
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to monitor wellbeing, progress, and outcomes of Children and Young People.
  • Ensure that consistent quality therapeutic care is delivered to Children and Young People in line with the CARE model.

Skills & Experience

  • Postgraduate, tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing
  • Current registration with the professional body relevant to qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with Children and Young People in OOHC
  • Significant experience using evidence-based assessment tools with young people with trauma informed behaviour
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of child development and complex trauma and its effects on children and young people in out of home care

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
