About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Team Leader to lead, supervise and manage a team of dedicated Disability Support Workers in a residential home and clients living in the community in Ceduna. This service provides support to people with complex issues, including acquired brain injury, mental health, and physical disabilities to live in the community.

You will use your organisational and leadership skills to guide your team in providing high standards of support and service to our disability clients so they can reach their goals whilst maintaining an efficient and safe working environment for staff and clients. You will ensure services are culturally appropriate provided. 

This is a full-time permanent position, Monday - Friday. Some intrastate travel is required.

The role comes with a Tool of Trade vehicle, contribution to relocation costs up to $1,000 and remote allowance $7,000 per annum and a monthly Roster Day Off.

It is a requirement for this role to be part of the Disability Management On-Call rotating roster (Approximately every 7 weeks) that includes the weekend.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the daily operations of support services, including the provision of formal supervision and management of a team of Disability Support Workers.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders including clients, families and carers and the community.
  • Coordinate and/or oversee rostering and timesheet requirements according to individual support needs of customers, service funding and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure the team complies with Disability Services Act Standards, other relevant legislation and Life Without Barriers policies.
  • Manage conflict, provide coaching and developing opportunities and address performance issues within your team.
  • Where required provide direct assistance and support to people with disability.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualification in relevant Social and Community Services discipline (preferred)
  • Diploma in relevant Social & Community Services qualification (minimum requirement)
  • Experience managing/supervising staff in the Disability sector
  • Strong coordination, leadership and peer support skills.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clients with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
  • Strong written and computer skills for the creation of plans, programs, reports, correspondence and other documents.
  • High level communication, influencing, liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Current Driver’s License.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
