About the Role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join the LWB team providing a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Psychological Service across the Perth Metro area. This program provides psychological treatment services for Individuals (and their families) from a CALD background with, or at risk of, mental disorders. The primary focus is psychological treatment for mild-to-moderate mental health conditions with a secondary focus on short-term psychological interventions and providing assistance for people with Severe Mental Illness to access appropriate services.

The role of the Senior Practitioner – CALD (Clinical Psychologist) is to provide high-level advice to the CALD Psychological Service Program. The role will monitor and support practitioners to ensure they deliver services that are evidence-based and in culturally appropriate and sensitive methods. The Senior Practitioner will also be responsible for marketing the program, engaging and connecting with local Primary Health services to create a network of referrals within the defined metropolitan area.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a tool-of-trade vehicle included.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Regional Director in the management of the program (or multiple programs) to be compliant with legislation, standards, contractual requirements and internal policy.
  • Ensure delivery of program services in accordance with the program contract, including a stepped care approach offering psychological treatments (interventions and support), underpinned by shared decision making and individual needs.
  • Develop and maintain local operational systems and procedures to support the effective management of the program, including meeting the program budget.
  • Identify and manage complex risks and issues arising in the course of service management and provide active case consultation.
  • As required, provide clinical advice, supervision, management and debriefing to staff.
  • Lead the development of stakeholder relationships with a strong focus on relationships with GP’s, create partnerships with the local CALD community and other service providers.
  • Establish and maintain registers of mental health professionals who can provide culturally appropriate and sensitive psychological services.
  • Collaborate on and integrate of formal agreements with key partners, identifying responsibilities, shared care and planning, work closely with tertiary services and/or local community organisations to ensure a smooth transition between acute, secondary, primary care and community services. 

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant degree qualification in Clinical Psychology and full registration with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating bilingually with a diverse range of people.
  • Significant experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds with specific reference to culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to build a shared understanding of, and commitment to the organisation’s Purpose and Values.
  • Demonstrated experience of providing clinical supervision and support to clinical personnel.
  • Significant experience undertaking Psychological testing, assessments and providing Psychological therapies covering a broad range of presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the provision of services and programs within a budget.
  • Drivers Licence.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
