About the Role

This is a new role, reporting to the Director, Safeguarding you will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure education and communication activities enable LWB staff to respond to concerns, complaints, reportable incidents, promote the principles of choice and control and work to build a person centred culture that empowers our clients to exercise and uphold their right to live free from harm.

This is a permanent full time role, location flexible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and continually evaluate education and awareness programs and campaigns that:
    • establish and maintain comtemporary knowledge of safeguarding obligations and
    • enable Client Services team to uphold the fundamental human right of a person with a disability to enjoy equality and dignity in all aspects of their life
    • enable Client Services teams to implement and promote best practice in the best interests of clients
  • Participate in the development of new program and practice initiatives, advising on the translation of these into practice
  • Provide training and on-the job coaching and mentoring to Client Services managers and staff to assist with knowledge and skill development

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary Qualification in Social Work or Psychology or related discipline
  • Significant practice expertise with experience within disability service delivery setting
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice, support, coaching, mentoring and training to managers and staff
  • Demonstrated experience using teaching, coaching and facilitation skills to ensure learning is effective
  • Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities to deliver high quality outcomes within agreed timeframes
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of senior stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, and ability to think laterally and strategically
  • Excellent written communication skills for the creation of training materials, reports, correspondence and other material.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Proficient ability in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including advanced skills in MS PowerPoint.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
